FRANK GALINDO III

Master Frank Galindo III began training in TaeKwon-Do in San Angelo, TX in 1981 in the MooDo-Kwan system under Mr. Mike Sekach (now Master Mike Sekach). Galindo received his First Dan Black Belt in Corpus Christi, TX in 1989 (time approximate). During his training, Galindo was introduced to several Martial Arts Systems including the Ed Parker System of Chinese Kempo, and also to a little known system of Karate called Ashi-Hara Karate established in 1980 by HIdeyuke Ashihara. Galindo chose to pursue TaeKwon-Do as his Martial Art of choice. With urging from his immediate instructor, Mr. Robert Meza, Galindo assisted Meza in teaching TaeKwon-Do in Mertzon, TX in the late 1980’s and also established a Do-Jahng in Ozona, TX in 1987 (Galindo was transferred to Ozona, TX for employment with the Texas Department of Child Protective Services; under Meza’s tutelage, Galindo established a store-front location in Ozona; Galindo was a 1st gup – Red Belt/Black Stripe at this time).

In 1992, Meza introduced Galindo to the United States TaeKwon-Do Federation (USTF) headed by Master Charles Sereff (now GrandMaster Charles Sereff) from Broomfield, CO. Galindo’s and Meza’s training both, was closely supervised by (now) Master Fabian Nunez, the Regional Director of the USTF, and also by the State Director, Mr. Gary Dutchover. The USTF was the leading National Organization in the United States for the International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF). ITF was founded by General Choi, Hong-Hi, the Founder of TaeKwon-Do. TaeKwon-Do, in and of itself, was established on April 11, 1955.
Galindo trained for the next 5 – 6 years to meet the ITF standards required by ITF in Patterns, Step-Sparring Techniques, Self-Defense Applications, Kicks and Board-Breaking Techniques, and especially in the Sine Wave motion particular to the ITF system. Although the MooDo-Kwan system techniques were similar, many techniques were not, particularly evident in the sine wave motion of movement in ITF Patterns, and in the Intermediate Movements — sometimes called “loads”, “chambers”, or “folds” — which are executed prior to the actual techniques performed in the patterns. Up to this point, these techniques had not been part of Galindo’s training, but Galindo has followed the ITF System of TaeKwon-Do to the present day.

In 2005, Galindo was introduced to, and trained in HaeDong Kum-Do (Korean Sword) Training by Mr. Kim, Jong-Cheol. Mr. Kim was a IV Dan Black Belt in Korean Sword.
In 2006 Galindo added Yu-Do (Korean Judo) training to his Martial Arts curriculum and began training his students in Yu-Do.
With the help of Mr. Curt Bolser, Mr. Jason Marlow and Mr. Aaron Bolser, all Black Belt ranked Instructors in Yu-Do and extensive training in TaeKwon-Do, Galindo was instrumental in establishing the American TaeYu-Do Association. TaeYu-Do is a TaeKwon-Do/Yu-Do mix which includes extensive ground-fighting techniques as well as the traditional kicking and punching techniques of TaeKwon-Do.
Galindo still actively trains in and teaches ITF TaeKwon-Do and Yu-Do and is the Chief Instructor at Concho Valley Martial Arts Center located in the Sunset Mall in San Angelo, TX. Galindo currently holds a VII Dan Black Belt in ITF TaeKwon-Do and a II Dan Black Belt in TaeYu-Do.
